People could survive perfectly well without books, but reading may well be one of the most satisfying human experiences. So why not join our book club? This semester we will be reading “The Dearly Beloved” by Cara Wall. This “moving portrait of love and friendship set against a backdrop of social change” (from The New York Times Book Review) follows two married couples whose lives become entangled when the husbands become co-pastors at a New York city congregation in the 1960s. It is a thoughtful story of faith and doubt, career and family, friendship and marriage. No need to have read the book before the course begins.
